The firm
A small firm, on purpose
Caldwell & Pierce has stayed two partners deep for a reason. It is the size at which a client is a person, not a file number, and a partner can still know every matter in the building.
Since 2004
Built on the courthouse square
Robert Caldwell opened the firm in a single room above a hardware store, doing wills and closings for families he had known his whole life. Eleanor Pierce joined as a partner five years later, bringing the firm’s business and litigation work with her.
Two decades on, the practice looks much as it began: careful paperwork, plain advice, and a client list that grows mostly by word of mouth. We have never wanted to be the biggest firm in the county, only the one people trust with the matters that matter most.
How we practice
Four standards we do not bend
Not a mission statement. Just the way the firm has always worked, written down.
A partner does the work
Your matter is not handed to someone you have never met. The partner you speak with is the one who drafts the documents and stands up in court.
Plain words, always
If a document or a bill cannot be explained across a kitchen table, we have written it poorly. Clarity is not a courtesy here; it is the standard.
The cost, up front
You learn what a matter is likely to cost before we begin, in a written engagement letter. Nobody at this firm learns the price from an invoice.
Honest about the odds
We tell you what we can do and what we cannot. If a matter is outside our practice, or not worth the fight, we say so plainly and point you somewhere better.
Where we practice
Rooted in Whitfield
Nearly all our work comes from Whitfield and the counties around it. We know the courthouse, the clerks, and the way things are actually done here, which is worth more to a local matter than any billboard downtown.
Many of our clients are the children and grandchildren of the first clients the firm ever had. We intend to earn the next generation the same way: one careful matter at a time.
Meet the attorneys
Bring us the matter that matters
A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it.
